Pamphlet of wig designs, sewn as issued. Frail and uniformly toned, the fore edges of the first and last few leaves worn and chipped with loss.
This amusing pamphlet was a satirical production by Jean-Henri Marchand first published in 1757 in Amsterdam and Paris. The rather wonderful illustrations of fantastically named wigs are sadly largely spurious. It seems to have been a popular bit of nonsense, and ran to several printings. This copy seems to be the second edition. A similar but not identical copy can be found online ;

The illustrations appear identical although the text is a variant and apparently reset. Google books however lists an identical copy. A rare, curious and entertaining thing.
