LUCENTE, R. [ and other family members] Cotrone, Italy [now Crotone]. Album of circa 55 drawings and watercolours, circa 1890-1900. Images pasted into an album which has recently been rebound (using largely recovered materials from contemporary bindings). All edges gilt. Approx 27 cm x 18 cm. The images consist of portraits, architectural details, classical scenes, designs for book plates, and items relating to Cotrone . Amongst the portraits are pencil drawings of Danish artist Gabriel Jensen [b.1862] and a very accomplished pencil portrait signed C[amillo] Ricelli ( Ricelli family members are recorded from Cotrone). A Raffaele Lucente was a doctor, politician and mayor of Cotrone for three terms, but we cannot be certain that he was the artist who made the majority of the drawings, or another family member.
