VENTRESS, Robert. Manuscript music  in self ruled oblong notebook with card wraps, with “Robert VENTRESS his Book , Upleatham  December 18th 1818” in ink to the front cover and “Robert Ventress’s Book Upleatham March 7th 1819 Begun Dec. 20th 1818 in the 64 year of his life” in ink on the first page recto.Pp 16 of musical notations , with four staves to a page of Psalm tunes, with a further two pages of verse. With an helpful family tree for Robert and his wife Anne, giving their dates and those of their eleven children. Also included are a number of newspaper clippings for centenarian Tom Ventress, apparently 100 years of age in 1921 a renowned foot huntsman, a cdv, and three trade cards for Joseph Ventress ( possibly Robert’s son born 1810? ) a Timber and Mahogany Merchant in Saltburn, Stockton on Tees. From our researches, Robert died in Upleatham  in 1848, not far from Saltburn-by-the-Sea. A nice little archive with a pleasing music manuscript.
