OWEN, Giles. Manuscript: Photographs and Sketches of the Channel Islands 1934. Approx 26 cm x 19.5 cm. Original linen wraps with pen and colour red heraldic shield. Thirty eight original photographs and twenty six pages of original pen and ink illustrations, a couple with colour, and text relating to a holiday tour in the Channel Islands in 1934 undertaken by the author. The hand-made book has leaves which are linen with stiff paper backing. The photographs are mounted on the linen sides, the drawings and text on the paper. The drawings are competent , and include a small map, the harbour of St Peter Port, Sunrise Moulin Huey Bay Guernsey, High Street St Peter Port, Petit Bot bay, a Guernsey Milk Jug, and The Landing Place Creux Harbour Sark.

Giles Owen was a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society, Member and Vice President of the British Empire Naturalists Association, and President of the Manchester Branch, Member of the Coward Memorial Committee for Bird Sanctuaries, and fellow of Chester Society of Natural Science. Literature and Art. We have another manuscript work by Owen, a flora of Mid- Cheshire dated 1838, from which the biographical details were obtained.
